Feb. 24, 2014

Team DynoMax racers delivered some stellar performances during the recent opening of the 2014 ULTRA4 racing season at the King of the Hammers (KOH) race in Johnson Valley, Calif. Team DynoMax swept all three spots in the KOH title race, as Loren Healy claimed his second “King” title, followed by Tony Pellegrino and Bill Baird.

More than 40 ULTRA4 race teams participated under the Team DynoMax banner during the week’s events.

“This year’s King of the Hammers week was beyond what we could have ever imagined,” said Chris Gauss, sales and marketing manager, performance brands, Tenneco. “From the title race to each of the individual classes and challenges, racers represented Team DynoMax, delivering inspiring victories and examples of teamwork and camaraderie throughout the week.”

Team DynoMax also had four other drivers finish in the top 10 of the KOH race, including Jake Hallenbeck, Tom Wayes, Randy Slawson and Andrew McLaughlin.

Key Team DynoMax members, Shannon and Wayland Campbell, finished with surprising stories in this year’s KOH race. Shannon did not complete the race due to engine issues, while his son, Wayland, ran an impressive race and finished fifteenth.

Team DynoMax racers also took several podium spots in other KOH races, including Erik Miller, who won the stock class of the Every Man Challenge, and Jessi Combs and Eric Bothwell, who finished first and third respectively, in the SPEC class of KOH.

In the inaugural year for the Backdoor Challenge, Team DynoMax also finished first and third thanks to strong performances by Randy Slawson and Ben Napier, respectively.
