Falken Tire dominates in Ultra4 race series at King of the Hammers

Feb. 10, 2014

Proving that its investment in off-road performance tires pays off, Falken Tire – in only its third year of team support at the popular King of the Hammers (KOH) and Ultra4 off-road race series – took first in the Every Man Challenge (EMC) Modified Class as well as first in the new Spec Class.  Falken also earned a second place podium in the main event, the KOH.

The main event – the King of the Hammers – had a strong showing of entries.  Tony Pellegrino, running on Falken’s new WildPeak MT 38x13.50R17, started 38th and ran a solid race, quickly passing over 30 competitors. Driving for the aggressive GenRight team, and with the WildPeak MTs providing excellent traction, Pellegrino finished in second place overall, giving Falken a much-deserved podium. 158 vehicles started the race covering a distance of approximately 198 miles, though only 32 finished.

“This was a very good week for Falken and our expanded off-road program,” noted a jubilant Nestor Cabrera, Falken’s Off-Road Supervisor.  “All the hard work and team efforts really came together at this incredible event.”

“Some people argue King of the Hammers is one of the toughest races on the planet, and Falken came to dominate it and we did,” added Nick Fousekis, Falken’s Director of Motorsports Marketing.  “We had two firsts out of four events, plus a number of podiums highlighted by Tony Pellegrino’s incredible run to the front.  We’re proud of everyone’s achievements over the course of the KOH events.”

Falken also earned two podium positions in the Stock Class with Ben Verozza of VP Racing/GenRight taking second and Richard Gauthier of Petty Cash Racing in third. Matthew Messer, driving the Crawl Magazine Ultra4, took second/third place in the new Legends class.
