Southern Tire Sales, a Mississippi-based independent commercial tire dealer, was named Next-Tred 2000 Retreader of the Year by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.
President Bernard Richards accepted the award at the World ITRA (International Tire & Rubber Association) Expo for the company's Pearl, Miss., plant, which retreads 100 medium truck tires a day.
Southern Tire Sales retreads an additional 67 retreads per day at its Laural, Miss., facility. The company operates three commercial service centers as well.
Armond Boyes, general manager of Goodyear's Next-Tred retreading operation, says Southern Tire scored 99.2 on a scale of 100. The Pearl plant was judged on product quality and how closely it follows Goodyear retreading procedures.
Southern Tire Sales has been a Goodyear Authorized Retreader since 1988. The company also has representation on the Goodyear Commercial Systems Advisory Board.
