Hercules Winter Tire Lineup Expands with New Avalanche TT

The Avalanche TT is the latest addition to the Hercules winter tire line. It will be available in 23 sizes, ranging from 16 to 22 inches.

Made in the United States, the studdable tire - which targets heavy-duty pick-up trucks, large SUVS and cargo vans - "offers marked improvement in snow and ice traction and a substantially quieter ride than its predecessor," the Avalanche X-Treme LT, according to Hercules officials.

The Avalanche TT features Snow Grip Technology, which boasts proprietary design features "that work together to get drivers through winter's extreme conditions."

Other features include Snow Grabber Grooves, which help trap and hold snow, delivering enhanced snow-on-snow traction; center rib tie bars that create "consistent feedback" to the driver: thin-gauge, full-depth siping and greater sipe density for enhanced biting edges; a silica tread compound for optimal grip on ice "while remaining pliable in cold climates for responsive handling and increased wet traction;" and an optimized tire profile and void-to-rubber ration "tuned to make smooth, even contact with the road for a quiet, comfortable ride."

"Winter weather can be challening for drivers, so we designed a winter tire specifically for the light truck market that offers a significant improvement in performance over all-season tires when temperatures fall near or below freezing," says Steven Liu, senior director of proprietary brands.

"The Snow Grip Technology and 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake designation of the Avalanche TT make it a confident choice for families navigating their way to the ski slopes, essential workers making deliveries in cargo vans or snowplow contractors clearing roads in snow, slush and ice."

The Avalanche family has 81 SKUs, according to Hercules officials.

Deliveries of the new Avalanche TT will start in September 2020, they add.
