Hankook Reopens Plant in Tennessee

April 23, 2020

Hankook Tire America Corp.'s plant in Clarksville, Tenn., is making tires again. The facility reopened on April 20, following a three-week shutdown.

The plant can produce 13,900 consumer tires per day at full capacity, according to MTD research.

"In order to protect the health and safety of its employees during the COVID-19 pandemic, Hankook temporarily suspended production at its Tennessee Plant in Clarksville, Tenn., from March 30 to April 12," says a Hankook spokesperson.

"As April 12 got closer, Hankook decided to extend the temporary shutdown through April 19."

During the time the plant was temporarily shut down, Hankook’s U.S. warehouses, including the one located at the manufacturing facility, "operated as normal. Hankook plants in Asia also supported the U.S. region, as needed, by providing production assistance, shipment and supply of raw materials to avoid any interruption in sales" during the production freeze.
