Giti Reverses Course, Will Shut Down U.S. Tire Factory

April 1, 2020

Giti Tire (USA) Ltd. will temporarily suspend production at its U.S. manufacturing facility for two weeks, beginning April 5.

The announcement comes eight days after the company said it planned to maintain production in South Carolina. The plant in Richburg, S.C. opened in 2017.

Giti says the plant will be shut down from April 5 to April 19 "to adjust for current market conditions due to the impact of COVID-19."

The company will maintain its sales and distribution operations to serve tire dealers and customers.

"Giti Tire continues to monitor and follow CDC, FEMA, and federal, state and local government guidelines and protocols to ensure the health and safety of our employees, customers, suppliers, and communities in all aspects of operations. During this unprecedented time, Giti Tire will continue to monitor the market, work closely with our dealers, and will make necessary adjustments as needed following economic and market conditions."
