The United States House of Representatives today passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the third piece of legislation to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The legislation follows H.R. 6201, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, enacted on March 18, and H.R. 6074, the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act, which was enacted on March 6.
“The American people are depending on the government to provide every resource necessary for a strong federal, state, and local response to the coronavirus pandemic,” says House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey (D-NY).
House passage of the bill, which passed the Senate this past Wednesday, clears the measure for President Trump to sign.
