The nation’s largest independent tire dealer has temporarily shuttered some stores and is limiting the services it provides nationwide to “essential customer needs” in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement March 18, Discount Tire said it was taking precautionary measures effective immediately. That includes the closing of 45 Discount Tire and America’s Tire stores:
- 17 in California;
- 14 in Washington;
- 9 in New Mexico;
- 2 in Minnesota; and
- 1 each in Arizona, Oklahoma, Utah.
The full list of temporarily closed stores is available here. Additionally, the company asks customers to make an appointment before visiting a store, and to come into a store “only if they’re feeling well.”
Stores are prioritizing and only performing these services at this time:
- Flat tire repairs;
- Replacement of tires with low or unsafe tread; or
- Tire air pressure maintenance.
“Non-essential” services – including tire rotations, tire balancing and non-state required snow tire changeovers “will not be performed at this time.”
