Continental Unveils General Brand OTR Tire During Conference

Feb. 19, 2020

Continental Tire the Americas LLC unveiled the first offering in its new, all-bias General brand OTR tire line last night during the Tire Industry Association’s (TIA) Off-the-Road (OTR) Tire Conference.

The General TE188, an E-3 product, is designed for loaders, graders and small articulated dump trucks, according to Shawn Rasey, director of global business development, earthmover tires, Continental, who originally previewed the General OTR line during an event that was held this past fall at Continental’s proving grounds in Uvalde, Texas.

“We felt this was the right time” to unveil the bias-ply General OTR line, he said at a news conference during the OTR Tire Conference’s trade show.

The line will give dealers who offer a “good-better-best” menu of OTR tires “a great offering in the ‘good’ area,” he added. “There are so many options in the OTR space right now. Our dealers now have the ability to offer a competitively priced product with a brand name that customers know and love.”

Rasey said that the tire manufacturer has not ruled out offering General brand radial OTR tires at some point. “We think there may be room to offer a radial tire under the General name down the road.”
