The all-season off-road tire features Goodyear's patented Durawall sidewall construction that contains a high-tech silica compound and three polyester plies for cut-, tear- and puncture-resistance.
It will be available for dealers in February. However, Goodyear previewed the tire at the International Tire Expo to rave reviews, according to Myers.
For the tire to fit in the fender wells of such vehicles as the Ford F150 or Dodge Ram, the trucks have to be lifted with custom suspension hardware, he adds.
The 40-inch Wrangler MT/R will have its nickname, "Rock Spider," molded into the sidewall. It is being manufactured at the company's Topeka, Kan., plant.
