Maxxis announces new tires, warehouse expansion

March 30, 2001

Maxxis International USA will introduce several new Maxxis brand passenger and light truck tires and sizes this year and will expand its warehouse.

New tires include the MA-501 performance passenger tire, available in June; the Marauder H-rated SUV tire, also available in June; and the Mudzilla off-road bias tire, due out in July.

The company's HT-750 Bravo passenger tire will see 11 new sizes; its MA-501 performance passenger tire, currently made in 15- and 16-inch sizes, will come in 18-inch diameters starting in May.

Maxxis, which is owned by Cheng Shin Rubber Inc. Co., also will be expanding its Suwanee, Ga., warehouse from 70,000 square feet to 160,000 square feet in 2001 to handle increased demand. The $5 million project will be finished Sept. 1, says Michael McGunagle, the company's marketing coordinator.

The facility -- which will be able to hold at least 200,000 more units -- will stock passenger, light truck, ATV and some lawn and garden tires.

In addition, Cheng Shin has received Ford Motor Co.'s World Excellence Award "for quality and delivery excellence."

Cheng Shin supplies Maxxis brand spare passenger tires to Ford models Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Mondeo and Transit in North America, Taiwan and China.
