Hankook Tire-DAV Program Triples Number of Veterans Helped

Dec. 7, 2017

Hankook Tire America Corp. reports it continued its successful partnership with Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in 2017 by expanding the number of Hankook-sponsored DAV Mobile Service Office (MSO) stops across the country.

This year’s program provided free services to 355 veterans and their families – more than tripling the number of veterans serviced since the partnership program began in 2015.

As part of Hankook’s 2017 partnership with DAV and ongoing commitment to helping the community through mobility, Hankook hosted six DAV MSO stops this year at partnering tire dealerships and brought free services directly to local veterans in California, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. At the MSO stops, certified DAV benefits advocates conducted 355 interviews in the “office on wheels” and helped veterans and their families file 188 claims.

From August to October, Hankook-DAV MSO stops were held at Black’s Tire in Fayetteville, N.C; Discount Tire Center in Yucca Valley, Calif.; Major League Tire in Mentor, Ohio; CJ’s Tire in Fairless Hills, Pa.; Gateway Tire in Clarksville, Tenn.; and Russo Tires in Doral, Fla.

“Hankook Tire’s commitment to the veteran community is at the core of our business, and we’re proud to continue our partnership with DAV,” said Hosung Suh, president of Hankook. “We greatly appreciate the support from all of our local tire dealers who host events that make it easy for our local heroes and their loved ones to get the assistance they deserve.”

The purpose of the national DAV MSO program is to bring DAV’s claims specialists to veterans in their local communities. This helps to reduce the distance that veterans need to travel to receive help in obtaining their VA benefits and other services they need to live higher-quality lives.

“DAV is honored to have the continued and growing support of Hankook who shows its great commitment to helping serve American veterans and their families,” said DAV National Adjutant and CEO Marc Burgess. “For three years, Hankook’s support has helped hundreds in the veteran community improve and enhance their lives by providing them with the necessary services they need. We look forward to this growing partnership and continuing to help offer America’s veterans the necessary recognition and support they richly deserve.”

As part of Hankook Tire’s 2017 partnership with DAV, Hankook and DAV co-sponsored all five of the Cincinnati Reds’ Military Appreciation Day baseball games throughout the 2017 Major League Baseball season. During a pre-game ceremony at Great American Ball Park, Hankook Tire Senior Vice President Jae Bum Park presented DAV National Commander Dave Riley with a $150,000 check to support veterans through mobility.
