Pirelli Shows Off Scorpion All Terrain Plus Tire

Oct. 31, 2017

Pirelli Tire North America Inc. has unveiled its new Scorpion All Terrain Plus tire for pickup trucks and SUVs at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show going on now in Las Vegas.

The Scorpion All Terrain Plus is an on- and off-road all-terrain tire that delivers maximum performance in demanding conditions, says the company.

“The new Scorpion All Terrain Plus reflects Pirelli’s continued commitment to offering tires developed specifically for the North American market,” says Ian Coke, chief technical officer. “This tire combines our advanced compound and design technology with an aggressive appearance to provide light truck and SUV owners with a durable, high performing driving experience through a wide range of challenging on- or off-road conditions.”

Sporting a new generation tread compound and aggressive design, the Scorpion All Terrain Plus tire is a significant upgrade that replaces the previous Pirelli Scorpion ATR, reports Pirelli. The all-new tire tread pattern increases durability, traction and wear resistance for balanced performance in various on- and off-road conditions.

Key features of the new Scorpion All Terrain Plus tire include:

* an aggressive tread pattern and upper sidewall design that delivers a great look for trucks and SUVs and a balanced performance for on- and off-road conditions;

* a new-generation tread compound for optimized durability, traction and wear, with high resistance to cutting and chipping of the tread elements. The tire offers optimum snow traction and its sidewall is marked with the three-peak snowflake symbol;

* deep tread grooves with conical stone ejectors deliver traction in mud and snow and eject small stones from the tread;

* and a 50,000-mile tread wear warranty for all sizes.

The aggressive tire design of the Scorpion All Terrain Plus offers minimal noise and on-road driving comfort without sacrificing solid off-road performance, says Pirelli. It will be available in various 16-, 17-, 18- and 20-inch sizes, with deliveries in the first half of 2018.

Examples of planned fitments include the Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, Ford F-150, Toyota Tacoma and Dodge RAM 1500.

The new Scorpion All Terrain Plus enhances the other “Plus” product lines in the Pirelli family: the Scorpion Zero All Season Plus, the Scorpion Verde All Season Plus, the P Zero All Season Plus, and Cinturato P7 All Season Plus.
