ATD'S New Warehouse Is Set to Begin Shipping on Dec. 3

Oct. 22, 2018

American Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD) will begin shipping products out of a new 1-million-square-foot warehouse in Blakeslee, Pa., on Dec. 3, 2018.

The company says the new Pocono Mixing Warehouse will primarily service vendors in the northeast and mid-Atlantic United States as well as eastern Canada.

ATD filed for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code on Oct. 4, 2018. At the time of the filing, ATD said its operations would continue without disruption as it restructured its debts.

The Pocono facility will support 70 full-time employees who will receive and ship more than 2.5 million tires per year, along with wheels, tools and other automotive supplies. The Pocono Mixing Warehouse will house all of ATD’s proprietary and imported brands including Hercules, Ironman, Nexen and Dynatrac. It will also include ATD’s sixth warranty adjustment center.

“This is just the latest example of how we’re keeping the power of choice alive for all of our customers,” says Mark Chandler, senior vice president of supply chain.

“Pocono, our fourth mixing warehouse, will have one of the largest SKU assortments of any of our mixing warehouses, making it easier than ever for our customers to receive the products they need, when they need them. There’s no doubt that the largest and longest-serving technology-enabled distribution network is taking the next step forward.”

The opening of the Pocono Mixing Warehouse coincides with the closure of ATD’s 400,000-square-foot facility in Findlay, Ohio.

The Pocono Mixing Warehouse is an important investment that strengthens ATD’s supply chain operations, according to CEO Stuart Schuette.

“ATD is moving forward with its game-changing transformation to help its customers win. We’ve created an optimal environment for ATD to ensure that products are in stock and ready to move when our customers need them,” says Schuette.

In early November, ATD will also host a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony with community leaders, associates and ATD leadership.
