Tire Discounters Will Host a Unique Hiring Event: Walk-in-Wednesday

Sept. 17, 2018

In anticipation of four new stores opening in the next four months, and the plan to add more outlets in the future, Tire Discounters Inc. will host a day-long hiring blitz in all of its stores this week.

The tire dealer known for its clever signs and slogans is calling its hiring event Walk-in-Wednesday. On Sept. 19 all 112 Tire Discounters stores will offer on-the-spot interviews throughout the work day, which typically runs from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Tire Discounters says the next four stores it opens will round out markets where the company already operates. But the company also is looking to expand into new markets.

“We’re a growing business looking for motivated individuals who are willing to learn, are driven to succeed, and want to work hard," says Charles Curlee, vice president of retail sales. "Don’t be intimidated if you don’t have automotive experience. Our on-the-job training program can help you quickly learn the automotive skills you need to move up and grow a career in automotive.”

Curlee, a 15-year automotive service veteran, was promoted to lead the company's retail operations earlier this year. Crissy Niese, chief customer officer, says under Curlee's leadership Tire Discounters has accelerated its growth.

Niese says, "In his short time in the role, he’s already made a significant impact on our business. I’m excited about our future with Charles leading the way.”

The company currently employs more than 1,200 people in 112 locations in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama.

Why is it a good time to join the automotive industry? Tire Discounters promotes three benefits:

  • job security with more vehicles on the road,
  • advancement opportunities, and
  • the demand for technicians as fewer people enter the trade.

Tire Discounters also offers its employees a full range of benefits including: health, dental and vision insurance, weekly pay, a five-day work week, no Sundays, paid time off, paid holidays, 401k retirement savings plan with company match, disability insurance, life insurance, accident and critical care insurance, employee assistance program and a wellness program. Tire Discounter is tied for the seventh-largest independent tire dealership in the U.S. on the Modern Tire Dealer 100.
