Cooper Will Raise Consumer Tire Prices on Oct. 1

Sept. 4, 2018

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. will increase passenger and light truck tire prices beginning Oct. 1, 2018. The magnitude of the increase is "up to 4%."

The company joins Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and Falken Tire Corp. as the only U.S.-based tire manufacturers to officially announce consumer price increases in 2018. Goodyear's prices went up as much as 3% on Sept. 1.

Falken has raised prices twice this year. The company started the year with "modest" price increases on select lines, then increased prices on select lines from 3% to 7% on May 1.

Without much fanfare, Michelin North America Inc. also instituted a "price adjustment" on selected Michelin and BFGoodrich product lines effective Sept. 1.
