TravelCenters of America LLC recently held the grand opening for its first TA Commercial Tire Network Retread Center. Located in Bowling Green, Ohio, the center uses the Goodyear UniCircle and precure processes to retread an average of 110 truck tires a day.
Barry Richards, president and chief operating officer of TravelCenters, and Richard Edwards, mayor of Bowling Green, spoke at the event. Also in attendance were TravelCenters executives Skip McGary, executive vice president; Greg Frary, vice president of truck service; and Bob Eck, vice president of the Commercial Tire Network.
Attendees had an opportunity to tour the 32,000-square-foot retread facility and observe tire retread production. They also were able to see the capabilities of the OnSITE mobile maintenance truck and the RoadSquad emergency breakdown and repair truck.
"We have a winning combination -- a newly renovated facility in a great community, state-of-the-art retread equipment and an operations team with over 150 combined years of expertise in the retread business," said Richards. "Now we have the ability to provide a complete tire management system and retread tires for national and local fleets, local industries, regional construction and the agricultural segments."
The TA Commercial Tire Network Retread Center, which is part of the Goodyear Authorized Retread Network, services fleets, local industries and tire dealers within a 150-mile radius of Bowling Green. In addition, numerous TA Truck Service facilities will have access to Goodyear brand retread tires produced at the plant.
Local customers are not only able to purchase Goodyear retread tires at the facility, but also shop for new Goodyear brand tires in the remodeled showroom. Tire inspection and repair services, as well as roadside service, also will be available through the retread center.
The TA Truck Service network of 244 truck service facilities represents 1,090 repair bays; nearly 3,000 technicians; a fleet of more than 2,600 RoadSquad and third party provider service trucks; and more than 162 OnSITE mobile maintenance vehicles.
