T & T Tire Center Inc., dba T & T Tire Point S Auto Service, has called the Puget Sound home since 1955. This summer the Tacoma, Wash., business has celebrated its community spirit by supporting the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
“It’s an organization that’s made huge strides in defeating the stigma of mental illness and provides programs and resources for people in my community,” says Ed Tuck III, CEO and president of T & T Tire Point S.
Earlier this month, T & T Tire Point S supported the Pierce County NAMI Chapter with its NAMI Walk, and helped the organization reach its goal of $5,000.
In May, the business offered consumers a promotion — buy a set of four tires, and the business would donate $20 to NAMI of Pierce County. The company sold 54 sets and gave $1,080.
“We’re fortunate to be in a position to make a difference in our community," Tuck says. "Part of being a steward in the community needs to be reflected in your actions, and it’s great seeing the impact we can make as an organization."
Walter Lybeck, CEO of Tire Factory Inc., dba Point S USA, says, members like to showcase their community connections.
“The roots our owners have in the community run deep. That’s why we place such incredible value in maintaining their name in the market, and independence. Independence is important to us as a co-op, and it’s what unites us as we’ve grown.”
