Maxxis Introduces Its Flagship Victra Sport 5 at Cologne Show

June 8, 2018

Global tire producer Maxxis International exhibited at the very first The Tire Cologne with an ultimate objective of maintaining and raising even further awareness of its progressive brand throughout Europe -- and having at least one appointed Maxxis distributor in each country.

The company also believed it was the perfect opportunity to launch its highly innovative ultra-high performance "flagship" pattern: the Maxxis Victra Sport 5 (VS5). During the show, Maxxis presented a press conference on the VS5 with Derek McMartin, managing director of Maxxis International-UK plc explaining the new features and benefits of the premium, fashionably attractive tire.

The VS5 has been specifically manufactured with new materials and construction methods to improve strength and handling performance at high speed.

* An aramid/nylon ply layer effectively reduces the tire’s weight and further improves rolling resistance and overall handling capabilities, says the company.

* Optimized sidewall construction delivers additional strength without compromising on ride comfort.

* A a highly dispersed, full silica compound provides excellent grip in both wet and dry road conditions and enhances fuel consumption.

It is also interesting to note that the VS5's performance is fully backed by strong results from independent TUV SUD Testing carried out in April.

"At Maxxis we believe we are one of the largest and most effective tire companies in the world and remain determined to become a permanent fixture in the Global Top Ten," McMartin told Modern Tire Dealer in an exclusive interview after the press conference. "We have the tires and the technical ability to achieve this goal and will showcase our products to the maximum.

"We have taken our time and studied the market in producing the VS5, which we feel is 27%... better than our last UHP tire, and now we are able to benchmark ourselves so the market becomes aware of on-going progress at Maxxis."

Also taking center stage at the expansive Maxxis booth was a completely new range of patterns from passenger to off-road sectors. McMartin added he was happy with the new show, with visitors to the stand expressing an extremely positive reaction to the latest Maxxis products. -- John Stone
