Mavis Picks Up 6 More Stores with Its Purchase of Dekalb Tire

The Mavis Tire Supply Corp. footprint keeps getting larger. On the heels of its purchase of five Hill Tire Centers in South Carolina, Mavis has picked up six Dekalb Tire & Automotive Service locations in Georgia.

The 11 stores up the number of independent tire dealerships owned by Mavis to 518. They are located in 13 states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas.

Mavis is fouth on the Modern Tire Dealer 100 list of the largest independent tire dealerships in the U.S. It is behind only Reinalt-Thomas Corp. (980 stores), which does business as Discount Tire and America's Tire; TBC Corp. (732 stores), which does business as Tire Kingdom, Merchant's Tire & Auto Centers and NTB Tire & Service Centers; and Monro Inc. (nearly 600 stores), dba Mr. Tire, Tread Quarters Discount Tires, Autotire, Tire Warehouse, Tire Barn, Towery's Tire and Auto Care, The Tire Choice, and McGee Auto Services & Tires.

The Dekalb Tire purchase gives Mavis 74 stores in Georgia. In January, New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Mavis Tire acquired Kauffman Tire Inc.'s 69 retail stores in Georgia and Florida.
