Goodyear Overhauls Its OTR Tire Tracking System

April 30, 2018

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has upgraded the EMTrack OTR tire monitoring system to help mining, construction, quarry and port operators better track their tire data.

“The completely updated Goodyear EMTrack tire performance monitoring system will enable faster, even more accurate collection of critical tire data like tread depth, inflation levels and other indicators,” says Eric Matson, Goodyear's global field engineering manager.

This is how the system works: Goodyear tire technicians survey the fleet using a Goodyear EMTrack scanning tool to capture tire inflation, tread depth and other critical measurements. Tire performance data automatically uploads via Bluetooth to a cloud-based platform for password-protected storage and easy access. End users download the data into easy-to-read, customizable reports.

“The enhanced EMTrack system also offers convenient, cloud-based data storage and more robust reporting capabilities thanks to the addition of the newly introduced Goodyear EMTrack App. This will give mining, construction, quarry and port operators an enhanced platform so they can make even more informed decisions about their valuable tire assets.”

Matson says the Goodyear EMTrack App allows a user to view tire data and reports in real time. End users also can view performance data for their tires across their operation and even zero in on specific tires, calculating cost-per-hour, cost-per-ton and other key metrics.

“Among other benefits, this will help end users identify, if applicable, maintenance opportunities to help ensure optimal tire performance. And the information collected through Goodyear EMTrack can also help in forecasting future tire requirements.

“The needs of our customers are continually evolving,” Matson added. “The trusted products, worldwide support, reliable services and management tools that Goodyear offers — such as EMTrack — are also evolving. We are confident that the enhanced Goodyear EMTrack system can help improve end users’ operational efficiency and help lower their operating costs.”
