New Jersey Sets Six Months to Comply with Lead Wheel Weight Ban

Jan. 18, 2018

New Jersey became the ninth state to enact a ban on lead wheel balance weights on Jan. 8, 2018, and has set a six-month window for compliance.

Unlike the last several states to pass similar laws, New Jersey has one of the shortest enforcement compliance periods set at only six months, or July 7, 2018.

“New Jersey and its tight six-month compliance timeframe will force businesses to shorten their alternative exploratory phases and push into a non-lead product immediately," says Gregory Parker, national account sales and marketing director for Wegmann automotive USA Inc.

"To make a lasting decision, business should start now on finding the correct non-lead product that will work for them long-term,” he says.
