Point S Opens Flagship Store in Malaysia

Jan. 4, 2018

Point S Development has opened its flagship store in Malaysia, an eight-bay location with a 3,000-square-foot showroom featuring areas dedicated to the Pirelli and BFGoodrich brands. The store, located in SS2, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, is 20,000-square-feet. It has space to park up to 20 cars, and will feature a partnership with both a car rental company, as well as a ride-share provider.

Gocar Malaysia, the car rental provider, will have two cars available at the Point S location. And Grab Malaysia, an Uber competitor in the region, also will be using the store as a terminal for the convenience of customers.

The opening of this flagship space comes three months after Point S opened its first store in the city of Petaling Jaya.

Point S Malaysia currently has three branded outlets in the country — located in SS2, SS15, and Kayu Ara. Tai Qisheng, director of Point S Malaysia, says, “We are now planning for an outlet in East Malaysia, and expect to have at least 15 branded locations in Malaysia by the end of 2018. We look forward to pushing this fury pace to build Malaysia’s largest independent tire retailing chain." Adrian Smiechowski, business development director of Point S, says,“We are proud of what the team in Malaysia has achieved in such a short span of time. We are already in discussion with multiple other countries in Asia, and expect an exciting year in 2018 for Asia. We continue to invite all retailers to join us in this journey of re-shaping the Asian tire and automotive landscape."

Point S has operations in 32 countries, with more than 3,500 points of sale. Globally, the company recorded revenue of more than 3 billion euro, and sold more than 16 million tires, spanning the passenger, light truck, truck and bus, industrial and agricultural categories.
