Nov. 7, 2011

At the 2011 SEMA Show New Products Showcase Awards, Continental Tire the Americas LLC won first and third place for the Conti CrossContact LX20 and General Tire G-Max AS-03. Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.'s Discoverer A/T3 received a runner-up award.

The awards were in the "Best New Tire & Related Product" category.  The Conti CrossContact LX20 tire is for SUV, crossover and light truck. It won for its innovative low-rolling resistance and fuel-saving features.

Continental’s LX 20 was launched in August. Continental says the CrossContact LX20 is the most innovative SUV, crossover and light truck tire to date. Featuring EcoPlus technology, the premium all-season tire was developed to deliver improved fuel economy and treadwear and reduce CO2 emissions. It replaces the CrossContact LX.

The General G-Max is an all-season UHP tire for sports cars, sporty coupes and high performance sedans. Launched in February, it features 3D Sipe Technology and uses interlocking tread blocks in the sipe to "improve handling and reduce heat." It also has Replacement Tire Monitor Technology and Visual Alignment Indicators.

In addition to SEMA runner-up award, the Cooper Discoverer A/T3 has also been recognized by “Consumer Reports” as the number one-ranked tire out of 13 tire lines tested in the all-terrain, SUV and pickup tire category. The Discoverer A/T3 was described as “best overall, with long tread life.”
