Danny Thompson to speak at SEMA Show

Oct. 17, 2011

Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels will host racer and vehicle innovator Danny Thompson for a press conference on Tuesday, Nov. 1, from 4:15 p.m. to 4:35 p.m., at the 2011 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show, booth 43013.

Thompson is Mickey Thompson’s son. He will present the details of his plans to complete the restoration of his fathers' Challenger 2.5, building the fastest piston-powered car in the world. Thompson plans to exceed the existing internal combustion wheel-driven land speed record of 417.020 mph with a goal of more than 420 mph by the summer of 2012.

The Challenger 2 was Mickey Thompson’s innovative design to achieve his dream of building the fastest piston-powered car in the world. The fully restored vehicle in the
form of the Challenger 2.5 using custom-designed Mickey Thompson tires represents
Danny Thompson’s unfailing dedication to fulfill his father’s dream, honor his father’s
memory and make motorsports history.
