Bridgestone announces four appointments

Bridgestone Americas Inc. (BSAM) recently announced four appointments, three at its Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations LLC (BATO) business unit. All are effective immediately.

Steve Brooks, previously vice president of information technology for BSAM, was named chief project officer for BATO, a new position created specifically to lead the construction and start-up of the new off-road radial tire plant in Aiken County, S.C. (click here for more details). He has been with the company since 1989.

Diane Drum, formerly vice president and chief information officer at Gerdau Ameristeel (Gerdau Corp.) in Florida, was hired to succeed Brooks at BSAM.

Saul Solomon, previously president of BATO's U.S. & Canada Commercial Tire Sales Division, is the new president of Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, Latin American Tire Division (BATO LA). Solomon, who joined the company in 1993, succeeded Humberto Gomez, who announced his retirement last July.

Ken Weaver, formerly chief financial officer of BSAM, succeeded Solomon. Weaver joined the Bridgestone Americas family of companies in 1982.
