Porsche AG has fitted the new 911 with Pirelli P Zero ultra-high performance tires. Two different compounds of P Zero were specially developed for the new Porsche 911 Carrera that will have its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week .

Pirelli & Cie SpA will supply the P Zero in size 245/35ZR20 for the front and 295/30ZR20 for the rear.

With the fitment, Pirelli says it "confirms its premium strategy and position as a leading partner to the world’s most prestigious car manufacturers."

The latest tread compounds were specially designed for the new Porsche 911. The rear tire features Kevlar, a synthetic fiber that offers excellent heat resistance and elasticity. In addition, its longitudinal action allows the tire to react to thermal stress.

Pirelli says the rear tire gives the Porsche "maximum lateral grip, excellent stability even at high speed and greater precision when driving, thus eliminating the risk of oversteer or degradation of the tire itself."

The front tire compound contains special nano-composites; its longitudinal and side action provides "excellent grip."

The P Zero tread was specially developed by Pirelli engineers with side blocks featuring optimized sipe depth, thereby notably reducing noise emissions in compliance with European Union regulations.

Porsche also has chosen Pirelli for the 911 Carrera Turbo variant, to be launched soon. The supercar will be fitted with the P Zero 245/35ZR20 on the front and 305/30ZR20 on the rear.

Pirelli has been approved as an original equipment fitment on more than 200 vehicles. For more information on Pirelli in the United States, visit www.us.pirelli.com.
