Goodyear will take its dealers for a ride

July 26, 2011

Representatives from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. will be crossing the country, introducing the Goodyear Assurance TripleTred All-Season premium tire to dealers and the media in 16 major markets.

Utilizing ride-and drives for hands-on driving experience on the tire, the company will demonstrate the features of its second-generation Assurance TripleTred All-Season tire, which was first introduced to dealers at the Goodyear Dealer Conference in Grapevine, Texas, in January (click here for preview.)

The tire features the same three unique tread zones as its predecessor that work together to help deliver traction. This includes:

* a water zone with a sweeping tread pattern that helps evacuate water from the tread for enhanced wet traction,

* a dry zone with large tread blocks along the outer edge of the tire to help provide confident handling on dry roads,

* and an ice zone with numerous biting edges to offer gripping power on icy and slick roads. This zone utilizes a polymer composition with traction-enhancing particles and fibers made with volcanic sand and glass to help create an increased micro-texture that offers enhanced low-temperature traction and overall winter traction, the company says.

The tire also features Evolving Traction Grooves. As the tire wears and initial tread blades become more shallow, some of the thin blades open up to become wider grooves that help evacuate water from under the tread for enhanced wet traction. There are more than 100 Evolving Traction Grooves on each Assurance TripleTred All-Season tire.

The Goodyear Assurance TripleTred All-Season is now available in 22 metric and P-metric sizes: 195/60R15, 195/65R15, 205/50R17, 205/55R16, 205/65R15, 215/55R16, 215/55R17, 215/55R18, 215/60R17, 215/65R16, 225/50R17, 225/55R17, 225/60R16, 235/45R17, 235/55R17, 235/65R16, P205/60R16, P215/50R17, P215/60R16, P215/60R16, P215/65R17 and P225/60R17.
