Pep Boys: buying a tire dealer near you

July 9, 2011

With apologies to American Tire Distributors and Monro Muffler Brake Inc., there may be no one more aggressively pursuing growth in our industry than Pep Boys--Manny, Moe & Jack.

Since its fiscal year ended Jan. 29, 2011, Pep Boys has added 102 "service and tire" centers, most of those coming from its purchase of the 83-store New Big 10 Tires chain in May. It was at it again in July.

Just how fast is Pep Boys adding to its service bay count? To find out, read "Pep Boys closes in on 7,000 service bays," the latest blog from Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich.
