Daniels Tire celebrates its 100th birthday

June 28, 2011

One hundred years ago this month, the company that would become Daniels Tire Service Inc. was founded in Whittier, Calif.

In 1911, when residents of the Southern California town and surrounding communities needed new tires for their Ford Model T's in 1911, they turned to Whittier Vulcanizing and its owner-operator, R.F. Daniels. Today, vehicle owners go to one of the largest independent full-service tire dealerships on the West Coast.

“When starting this company, my great-grandfather’s mission was to sell only the best products and provide superior customer service,” says John Daniels, executive vice president of administration and consumer operations. “To this day, those principles are still the driving force behind our continued growth and success.”

After its founding, Daniels Tire Service experienced gradual growth well into the 1930’s. In 1939, Arden Daniels, who succeeded his father, joined with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. -- a partnership that remains intact more than 70 years later.
