Will consumers decide if the price is right?

June 10, 2011

As tire manufacturers regularly raise tire prices, one has to ask: Is there a ceiling? When will pricing plateau?

And do you want it to plateau?

To date, one company has announced three replacement passenger tire price hikes this year. Another nine have raised, or will raise, prices twice.

There is at least one sign that price increases will slow down, according to Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich. In his latest blog, he talks about how much prices have gone up since 2008, and what has happened this year.

We are all affected by price increases in our industry. To read about the latest in consumer price hikes, read Ulrich's latest blog, "As Maxwell Smart might ask, 'Would you believe 4 for $400?'")

Do you agree with Ulrich? Is there an end in sight to price hikes? Let us know what you think by leaving a comment!
