Hercules employee dies in auto accident

June 5, 2011

Timothy (Timmy) Hendricks, a customer service representative for Hercules Tire & Rubber Co.'s TDW (Tire Dealer's Warehouse) distribution center in Portland, Ore., was killed in an auto accident on May 20, 2011. He was 31.

Hendricks joined the company in 2007, and was part of the Portland branch's start-up.

He was a “larger than life person,” according to Dave Simas, the Portland distribution center's general manager.

“Timmy came to me as a young man -- rough, cocky, energetic, sensitive, bold and eager to take on the world his own special way. The more I challenged him, the more he accepted. He would adapt and remold them, always exceeding my expectations.”

According to his friends, Hendricks lived every minute of life to its fullest. He loved the Oregon Ducks college football team, playing softball, going on outdoor excursions and spending time with family and friends.

He also was a devoted single father to his seven-year-old daughter, Aspenn. A trust is being established to assist with her future health and educational expenses.

Donations to the "Aspenn Hendricks HEW Trust" should be made out to “Aspenn Hendricks Health, Education and Wellness Trust” and sent to the Human Resources department at Hercules Tire & Rubber Co., 16380 East U.S. Route 224, Suite 200, Findlay, OH 45840.

“I can’t think of many other people I’ve known who brought that much passion to living,” adds Simas.
