Moog solves steering problem for Ford Explorers

May 3, 2011

Federal-Mogul Corp. has developed a rear inner compensator link/tie rod end for the replacement market. The company says the unit will fit more than 1.3 million vehicles on the road in North America.

The innovative Moog Problem Solver design (No. ES800560) is available for 2002-2005 Ford Explorers and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator models.

“Until now, technicians have had to replace the entire assembly with parts featuring the original design," says Mark Boyle, director of steering and suspension products. "The new Moog Problem Solver part now allows the installer to replace only the failed component and offers a significantly more robust and longer lasting solution that can help prevent comebacks and costly repairs.”

The new Moog Problem Solver part features the following:

* the brand’s all-metal “gusher” bearing design "for exceptional strength and longer life."

* a grease fitting that the company says "is far more resistant to socket pull-out than the original part."
