Nominate someone for the Hall of Fame

April 30, 2011

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) will begin accepting nominations for the 2011 Tire Industry Hall of Fame on Tuesday, May 3. The nomination period will last through July 5.

The Hall of Fame is open to individuals in the tire industry, including manufacturers, inventors, publishers, equipment suppliers, tire association executives, tire dealers, tire and rubber recyclers and retreaders.

Inductees are chosen based on the following primary criteria:

1. their contributions of new ideas;

2. practices and/or innovations that promote the health and well being of the tire industry;

3. their exemplary and distinguished service in the tire industry; and

4. the respect of their peers.

Contributions in civic, cultural, educational or charitable endeavors will be considered, but are not a primary consideration for selection.

"The Tire Industry Hall of Fame has recognized the tire industry’s brightest and best, and we look forward to choosing another select group of individuals for this year’s honor,” says TIA Executive Vice President Roy Littlefield. This year’s recipients will join past inductees, including Harvey Firestone, Charles Goodyear, Andre Michelin, John Dunlop, Les Schwab and Mario Marangoni.

A nomination form is available for download at www.tireindustry.org. A form also can be obtained by calling TIA at (301) 430-7280, ext. 137.

The Hall of Fame Inductions will take place Oct. 31, 2011, as part of TIA’s Tire Industry Honors event, which is a part of the Global Tire Expo -- Powered by TIA and Specialty Equipment Market Association Show in Las Vegas, Nev.
