Curry's Auto Service opened its seventh store, all located in northern Virginia, on Monday, April 4, 2011.
The 4,000-square-foot shop features five service bays, ASE-certified technicians and "Curry's usual state of the art equipment," according to the company. It is located in Fairfax, Va.
With more than 4,000 customer interactions each month at its other six locations (in Arlington, Chantilly, Dulles, Falls Church, Gainesville and the Great Falls/Reston area), Curry’s Auto Service is one of the largest independent service and repair shops in the Washington, D.C., area. It was founded by Matt and Judy Curry in 1997.
During the last three years, Curry's Auto Service has grown in sales and profitability. Between 2008 and 2010, the company's revenues increased 69% as the company's store count increased from four to six. In recognition of this growth, Curry's was named to the "Inc. 5000" list of fastest growing private companies in the United States last year.
In 2009, Curry’s Auto Service was the first auto service facility in Virginia to receive the AskPatty "female friendly facility" certification. As part of this program, Curry’s customers have access to an online community providing impartial advice to women on auto purchases, repairs and maintenance.
2010: an award-winning year
Curry's Auto Service was named the "2010 Top Shop" by "Motor Age" magazine. It was also chosen "Top Auto Shop" in northern Virginia by the readers of "Northern Virginia" magazine last year.
Also in 2010, Judy Curry was named one of the " Influential Women of Virginia" by "Virginia Lawyer's Weekly," and Chief Financial Officer Chris Holcomb was recognized by the "Washington Business Journal" as 2010 CFO of the Year in the service industry, and by "Washington SmartCEO" magazine as a "Smart CFO."
On March 1, 2011, Matt Curry was chosen as one of eight "Locally Grown Winners" by the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship. He will be honored at a gala banquet on April 27.
