Feb. 16, 2011

Chuck Sinclair, senior vice president of global communications for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., has decided to retire as of March 1, 2011.

Sinclair has held this position since June 2003. A successor for Sinclair has not been named.

“I want to thank Chuck for his great 26-year career at Goodyear," says Richard Kramer, chairman, CEO and president. "He has been an outstanding business partner and valued member of the Goodyear team.

"Chuck is a trusted friend and advisor to all of us, and we will certainly miss him. We all wish Chuck and his family the best for their future.”

Sinclair joined Goodyear in 1984 as plant public relations manager at the company’s engineered products plant in Lincoln, Neb. He was named publications editor and relocated to the corporate headquarters in Akron, Ohio, in 1987.

He was named public relations manager, general products in 1990; manager of public relations for the North American Tire (NAT) business unit in 1992; manager of public affairs in 1993; manager of national media relations in 1995; and director of public relations for NAT in 1997.

In 2002, Sinclair was named vice president of public relations and communications for NAT.

“My decision to retire comes with a lot of emotion, all good emotion,” says Sinclair. “I have a tremendous admiration for my team and our company that will never subside.

"We share the passion for Goodyear. I have never felt better about the company, its leadership, its strategy and its future.”

Sinclair adds he is looking forward to spending time with his family as well as golfing, traveling -- and more golfing.
