Sports marketing: the way to go, says Kumho

Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. executives had a lot to tell its dealers at its annual dealer meeting. A change in marketing philosophy was one of them.

The introduction of a new ultra-high performance all-season tire (see "Kumho takes on the industry with the Ecsta 4X") and a SmartWay line of truck tires ("Kumho KL truck tires: modified, verified and certified") were big news. But so was its exit from professional motorsports.

Why the change of heart? Afterall, not that long ago, Kumho was interested in competing in Formula One racing.
