Sullivan Tire buys Connecticut retread company

Jan. 3, 2011

Sullivan Tire and Auto Service has purchased Connecticut-based Bergson Tire Co. Inc., Connecticut’s largest commercial truck tire retreader.

“For 38 years, Bergson Tire has done a fantastic job in providing their customers in Connecticut and beyond with the best of products and the most reliable service available,” says Vice President of Marketing Paul Sullivan. “Combine that with Sullivan Tire’s 56 years, and the end result is 94 years of quality service experience that will greatly benefit our customers.”

The asset acquisition by Sullivan is another addition to the company’s recent expansion, as two new locations were recently opened in New Hampshire and Maine.

Bergson Tire has been in business under various names for over 38 years providing commercial trucking companies with total tire management programs, air pressure programs, mileage tests and 24-hour road service, among other offerings. The property will operate under the Sullivan Tire brand name and joins other Sullivan-owned commercial truck centers located throughout Connecticut.

Bergson Tire’s president and vice president will remain as part of the Sullivan Tire team, as well as other employees of the company.

Sullivan Tire and Auto Service has more than 50 retail and 15 commercial truck centers throughout New England. It is the 13th largest independent tire dealer chain in the U.S., according to the Modern Tire Dealer 100.
