A flotation tire that can travel 50 mph!

Jan. 3, 2011

Alliance Tire Group's new all-steel radial flotation tire has received Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) certification for highway use at 50 mph.

The Alliance 390 All-Steel Agri-Transport Flotation Radial is the first all-steel flotation radial in the industry, according to Michael Aguon, national product manager for Alliance Tire Americas Inc. It also has a load-carrying capacity of nearly 11,000 pounds at 50 mph.

“The new, all-steel 390 provides performance, speed and versatility that will allow farmers to lower their operating costs and improve their productivity,” says Aguon.

The steel belts help the 390 resist cuts and punctures, and "ensures a broad, flat footprint for improved traction and flotation." A rugged tread compound improves wear resistance and maximizes service life and return on investment, he adds.

Alliance's extensive on-farm testing in the United States and abroad shows longer service life and higher load-speed performance than nylon-construction radial flotation tires.

The 390 All-Steel Agri-Transport Flotation Radial is available in size 600/50R 22.5, a popular size widely used on manure tanks and wagons, grain carts and agricultural trucks. Other sizes are in development and will be available soon.
