June 9, 2016

The wholesale division of North Gateway Tire Co. Inc. in Seville, Ohio, recently held an open house for the grand opening of an 82,000-square-foot warehouse expansion. It was attended by customers from approximately 150 of its independent tire dealership accounts.

The company broke ground for the addition in April 2015. Now the building covers 250,000 square feet and houses tubes and tires of all types from small specialty tires to off-the-road. The new addition will be used to receive and distribute commercial tires, according to Greg Fisher, a wholesale sales representative for North Gateway Tire.Twenty suppliers had booths at the open house displaying tires, tire pressure monitoring system service, wheels and other products. Tire brands on display included Yokohama, Federal, Vredestein, Goodyear/Titan, Multi-Mile, Toyo, Bridgestone, Kenda, BKT, Carlisle, Galaxy, Deestone, Cropmaster and Vercelli, a new brand the company is carrying from American Omni.

The North Gateway Tire location runs 20 trucks a day distributing products to customers in Ohio, western Pennsylvania, northwest West Virginia, half of Michigan, and parts of New York. The building now has a total of 15 docks. It is owned by Darrell Hill, president, in partnership with parent company Dunlap & Kyle Co. Inc. based in Batesville, Miss. Dunlap & Kyle has 16 warehouses with a combined total of nearly 3.5 million square feet.

North Gateway Tire’s first retail and wholesale location was opened in Medina, Ohio, in 1979 and has 27 tire and service bays. The Medina location had three warehouse expansions before the company built the Seville location (starting out at 170,000 square feet) to handle all of its wholesale business.
