Fountain Tire has been awarded "Platinum Status" as part of Canada's 50 Best Managed Company Awards program.

Fountain Tire was honored for "sustaining a standard of excellence and leadership in all areas of (its) business practice," according to program officials.

"'Platinum Club' status is the ultimate compliment to Fountain Tire because it demonstrates the strength and sustainability of our partnerships, which are major contributors to our success," says Fountain Tire President Brent Hesje.

The Edmonton, Alberta-based dealership has been active in the award program for the last six years.

Fountain Tire is the 18th largest independent tire store chain in North America with 48 outlets, according to Modern Tire Dealer research.

In 2002, it recorded $282 million (Canadian) in sales.
