Hankook will adjust production

Dec. 3, 2008

Hankook Tire Co. plans to reduce its production volume this month "in response to the recent reduction in demand for automobiles in a number of markets," say Hankook officials.

The minor adjustment "will be spread across some of (the company's) production facilities by adjusting operational days."

Despite cutbacks, by the end of December, Hankook says it will have increased its global production by more than 10% versus 2007 levels.

The tiremaker says it will continue to monitor market conditions "and prudently manage production volumes."
