Michelin radializes racing series with BFGoodrich tires

Nov. 13, 2003

Michelin North America Inc. has signed a multi-year agreement to provide BFGoodrich tires to the 2004 Hooters ProCup stock car racing series.

The move to BFGoodrich Traction T/A oval-track tires will radialize the series. Michelin will provide two sizes for the race cars: 27x10.00R15 for the right side, and 26.5x10.00R15 for the left side.

"We believe our relationship with the USAR Hooters ProCup will be a win-win situation for everyone involved, including our customers," says Todd Steen, motorsports marketing manager for BFGoodrich tires.

"We are not only bringing a new tire, we are bringing radial technology and a breath of fresh air to the teams and drivers, which will only add to the excitement of the racing each week."

A team of Michelin tire engineers also will support the 35 to 40 teams and cars that typically compete in the 30-race Hooters North and Hooters South seasons.

"The addition of radial technology to the series will be a welcomed improvement and provide a new level of competition for our teams," says Gene Cox, president of the USAR Hooters ProCup Series.

The Hooters ProCup series is sanctioned by United Speed Alliance Racing. Drivers compete in 3,300-pound, full-size, steel-bodied Ford, Chevrolet, Pontiac or Dodge stock cars.
