ITE: Michelin introduces Pilot Sport PS2 ultra-high performance line

Michelin North America Inc. will begin supplying dealers with it Pilot Sport PS2 ultra-high performance line during the first quarter of 2004.

The PS2 is one of three new Michelin tires the company will roll out next year. The others are the Pilot Sport Exalto PE2 and the Pilot Alpin PA2. Another tire, the Michelin Pilot XGT Z4, will be reintroduced.

The tires were designed using motorsports technology gained from Groupe Michelin's racing activities, including its Formula One participation, according to Sheryl Henderson, Michelin brand director.

The PS2, the flagship of Michelin's ultra-high performance tire lines, will be marketed to performance enthusiasts. It features softer, stickier compounding than its predecessor, the Michelin Pilot Sport, but has the same tread life as the Sport. It also has a four-groove tread pattern.
