Firestone to be inducted into Cruisin' Hall of Fame

Sept. 19, 2003

The 103-year-old Firestone brand will be inducted tomorrow into the Cruisin' Hall of Fame at the 14th Annual Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous.

On hand for the induction ceremonies will be Andrew Firestone, the great grandson of founder Harvey S. Firestone.

The Cruisin' Hall of Fame was established in 1995 by the San Bernardino Convention & Visitors Bureau, in conjunction with the City of San Bernardino, to honor those who have made a significant contribution to the uniquely American automotive cultural phenomenon of cruising.

In addition to Firestone's induction, the Cruisin' Hall of Fame this year is also honoring Parnelli Jones, Route 66 magazine and the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA).

The annual Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous is held in downtown San Bernardino on the historic Route 66 highway. This year's event runs Sept. 18 - 21 and is expected to attract more than 500,000 auto enthusiasts and 2,500 classic cars, trucks and hot rods.

Firestone Tire & Service Centers have been a part of the Route 66 Rendezvous for the past eight years, and this year is the presenting sponsor.
