Pirelli announces price increases

Sept. 1, 2003

Pirelli Tire North America will raise prices up to 4% on its passenger and light truck tires beginning Oct. 1. The price increases, which were prompted by prising raw material costs, will vary by product line, according to the company.

The price increase will be the second of the year for Pirelli, which raised prices on its consumer tires an average of 5% on Jan. 1.

Pirelli is the third domestic tire manufacturer to announce a price increase in the last three months. Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. raised prices on its passenger and light truck tires between 2% and 4% on Aug. 1. Continental Tire North America raised prices on its consumer tires approximately 3% on July 1.
