Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has designed its new Cooper Zeon XST for the sport truck market.
The H-rated tire is available in nine 18- and 20-inch sizes, which represent both original equipment replacement and sport "tuned" light truck and SUV opportunities, according to the company. It features a spiral-would nylon overwrap, a directional tread pattern and optimized tire profile -- just like Cooper’s ultra-high performance Zeon 2XS.
It also has a reinforced tread compound that is specifically engineered to optimize all-around sport truck tire performance.
"The sports truck segment is the fastest growing part of the performance tire market," says Carl Casalbore, vice president of retail sales and high performance tire development.
"The Zeon XST is more than just a large rim diameter tire, it’s a tire that performs while it carries the weight of a SUV."
Casalbore says Cooper will introduce 22- and 23-inch sizes in the fourth quarter of 2003 and 24-inch sizes in the first quarter of 2004.
The Zeon XST carries a 45-day free road test warranty. If a consumer is not satisfied with the tires after 45 days, the tires may be returned for a full refund.
