The Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) is helping the state of California develop an updated tire fire prevention training program.
The program will feature two components, according to RMA Senior Technical Director Mike Blumenthal.
"There will be a section intended to help the state be more effective in closing non-permitted scrap tire operations, and a section on preventing tire fires during (scrap) tire processing."
A one-page reference guide detailing the chemical composition of tires and other related topics also is in the works.
