Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire LLC is introducing two new 19.5-inch truck tires, the R227F and the M729F, to the domestic market.
The 227F is primarily designed for trucks that haul automobiles, says Daniel Allen, BFNT product planning manager.
"It's been used in Europe for a while."
Nineteen-and-a-half-inch tires are ideal for car transporters since they need shorter tires to accomodate bigger vehicles like SUVs, according to Allen.
The M729F targets drive axle applications; its lugs "are designed for irregular wear resistance."
Both tires will be available in two 19.5-inch sizes, says Allen.
