Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire LLC's Bloomington, Ill., plant has been accepted into the United States Environmental Protection Agency's National Environmental Performance Track (NEPT).

The NEPT program awards companies with a proven track record of environmental performance improvements.

"In order to qualify, the Bloomington facility had to fulfill a number of requirements, including demonstrating its strategic plan with objectives and targets to reduce environmental impacts, methods for evaluating performance and taking corrective actions, and a record of sustained compliance with environmental requirements," say Bridgestone/Firestone officials.

The factory produces 480 tires per day at top capacity, according to Modern Tire Dealer statistics.
